Jack Warner discharged from Couva Hospital
Former FIFA vice president Jack Warner has been discharged from the Couva Hospital. Warner said in a statement on Sunday night, “The worst part is over but the journey back to good health is incomplete.” The 77-year- old former football administration turned politician, contracted the virus two weeks ago, and has been in the hospital since September 2. CoP: Change laws on private properties first
Police Commissioner Gary Griffith has come to the defence of the Police Service and himself after Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley called for the arrests of all who were found to be partying. He is calling on the Government to amend the current laws as it applies to police responding to events held on private properties. Dr Rowley stated that the law should be applied across the board during a press conference on Saturday, as he joined the ongoing commentary on the recent Bayside Towers pool party. Read more here

Kamla: Govt has no new plans to deal with covid19 explosion
Opposition Leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar said Government has no new plans to deal with rising covid19 cases. "The definition of insanity is doing the same things over and over and expecting a different result each time. As the number of covid19 cases explodes with rising deaths, the Rowley regime is simply repeating the same tired propaganda lines over and over. " She made the comment in a media release Sunday. Minister assures more game wardens being sought
More game wardens are coming to deal with poachers and smugglers, Minister of Agriculture, Lands and Fisheries said. His comment follows a call by the president of the T&T Assembly of Hunting Associations (TTAHA), Dr Reeza Mohammed for the widening of the pool for honourary game wardens to include law enforcement officers. In an interview with Guardian Media, Rambharat said game wardens are appointed by the Public Service Commission. Read more here

CAL, Virgin Atlantic partner for London connection
State-owned Caribbean Airlines will soon be making a reconnection to London through an expanded partnership with Virgin Atlantic, Guardian Media has learnt. This move comes four years after CAL ended its three weekly flights to London because the route was deemed not profitable. The London service was launched in 2012 but performed below expectations. And, as a result of the cancellation of the route, CAL also retired the Boeing 767s from its fleet and returned them to the International Lease Finance Corporation (ILFC). Read more here

Magisterial Recount For Westmoreland Eastern Resumes Monday
Counting is to continue tomorrow morning at the Westmoreland Parish Court in the magisterial recount of ballots cast by constituents of Westmoreland Eastern in the September 3 general election. Counting is expected to resume at 10 a.m. Fifty-two boxes of 117 are left to be counted to determine whether the Jamaica Labour Party’s Daniel Lawrence or the People’s National Party’s Luther Buchanan was victor, after both men polled an equal number of votes following an official recount last weekend. Both Lawrence and Buchanan received 4,834 votes each after Sunday's official recount. An independent candidate, Haile Mika'el, received 43 votes. Read more here

Trump ignores science at dangerous indoor rally
President Donald Trump offered a glaring new example of his refusal to put medical science before politics with a large indoor rally Sunday night that made a mockery of social distancing, while the pandemic he mismanaged has now claimed more than 194,000 American lives. The event in Nevada -- his second rally in the state in as many days -- did not only risk the health of those present, thousands of whom were packed together inside a manufacturing facility in defiance of the state's ban on local gatherings of 50 people or more. It also has the potential to turn into a super spreader event that could seed Covid-19 outbreaks in the wider community. Read more here
