Dry season accelerates red palm mite Coconut estates under attack

Harsh dry weath­er con­di­tions are trig­ger­ing an in­crease in the red palm mite which has dev­as­tat­ed 80 per cent of co­conut es­tates in T&T.

Sev­en years af­ter In­dia’s top bi­o­log­i­cal ex­pert Dr Av­varu Su­jatha made at­tempts to fight the red palm mite, Ce­dros co­conut grow­ers say their es­tates con­tin­ue to of­fer low yields be­cause of the spread of the dev­as­tat­ing preda­tor. Read more here…

Blaze breaks out Scarborough Fire Station

Fire of­fi­cers were on Sun­day night bat­tling a blaze which ig­nit­ed on the top floor of the Scar­bor­ough Fire Sta­tion.

An alarm was raised short­ly af­ter 7 pm af­ter smoke was seen com­ing from the up­per storey of the par­tial­ly wood­en and con­crete at the Ba­co­let Street build­ing. Read more here…

Khan: Paria fuel is good

ENERGY Minister Franklin Khan said there is nothing wrong with the quality of the fuel being supplied by Paria Fuel Trading company. In response to a matter on the adjournment of the Senate on Thursday night, Khan declared, “It is unsubstantiated in science and in fact.” Read more here…
