Jamaica wins Miss World crown
Jamaica’s Toni-Ann Singh was crowned as Miss World 2019 yesterday and said she wanted to use her title to work for “sustainable change” for women and their children.
TT's Tya Jane La Shon Ramey won the Miss Caribbean title of the pagaent.
Asked about the value of beauty contests in today’s world of MeToo# and the drive for equality and respect for women, the 23-year-old graduate of Florida State University said beauty for her was the least important aspect of her achievement. Read more here…
Two men held in Trinicity Mall skimming plot
Two men were arrested in Trincity Mall around 4:30 pm yesterday, with equipment used to skim bank cards.
Cell phone footage showed the men lying on the ground, near the Scotiabank automated teller machine, while their belongings were being examined by plain clothes police officers.
The video showed a device on the ground, while the person who recorded it said it was a skimmer that was being used by the men to mine users’ ATM card pins. Read more here…

La Brea loses again
The people of La Brea have once again lost out on economic activity as Australian outfit BHP has decided to build its latest oil and gas platform outside of T&T.
The company confirmed that it will not be constructing the platform at La Brea claiming that the foreign bid was more competitive.
In an emailed response to a number of questions from the Sunday Business Guardian the company’s communications manager Judy Dane said a comprehensive analysis showed that the local bid was not as competitive as others they received. Read more here…

Short-term, direct sale of crude best for Guyana – Dr Bynoe

US envoy Stephen Biegun tells North Korea: 'Let's get this done'
His comments in Seoul come days after North Korea conducted missile tests at a satellite launch site.
North Korea has set an end-of-year deadline for the US to come up with a new denuclearisation deal that would involve significant sanctions relief.
