Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley turns 70 today.Rowley is the oldest serving prime minister in Trinidad and Tobago’s history, and if he returns to the polls and is successful next year he will be one of the oldest serving members of Parliament. Read more here
PoS magistrate scolds police for blaming courts
Police got a dressing-down from Port of Spain magistrate Aden Stroude for claims which he said could give the public the impression that magistrates are not doing their job. Stroude’s concerns stemmed from an excuse allegedly made by police on Tuesday as to why Valsayn businessman Emile Sanowar did not appear before a magistrate, although he was taken to court that day. 18 Venezuelans caught sneaking in T&T, via Carenage
18 Venezuelan nationals including three children were detained by police trying to enter the country illegally by boat in Carenage early this morning. Investigators told Guardian Media the Venezuelans from Guiria were held near the Smith Hill area in Carenage around 5:35 am. Read more here

Three ex-PNM councillors in Lee Sing's new PPM
To all those who don't wish to vote red or yellow - People's National Movement or United National Congress - the Port-of-Spain People's Movement (PPM) says come to the centre. Young: ‘I have the evidence’
NATIONAL Security Minister Stuart Young on Wednesday said he has evidence to support his statements at last Friday's PNM meeting in Belmont about senior UNC members colluding with criminals. NGC AA+ rating reaffirmed
THE NATIONAL Gas Company (NGC) has had its AA+ rating reaffirmed by the Caribbean Information and Credit Rating Services (CariCRIS) with a stable outlook.
NGC in an advertisement today said the rating is based on “more favourable prospects in the gas industry arising from improved gas production which should boost NGC’s financial performance in 2019 and beyond.” Read more here…

Rice farmers put on high alert as spring tides loom
THE Guyana Rice Development Board (GRDB) has advised all rice farmers along the coastal belt to take the necessary precautionary measures as another series of high tides approaches.
According to the forecast, high tides will occur from October 25 through November 1, 2019. On Monday, October 28, at 16:13hrs, it is expected that the effects will be most felt with the waters being at the height of 3.31 metres. Read more here…
Gas Prices Down $0.13, Diesel Up $1.68
The state-owned oil refinery, Petrojam, says E-10 87 will sell for $127.81 per litre and a litre of E-10 90 will sell for $130.64. Automotive diesel oil will move up by $1.68 per litre to sell for $136.74.
The price of Kerosene will go up by $1.35 to sell for $115.59. In the meantime, propane cooking gas will go up by $0.05 to sell for $41.30, while butane will move up by $0.25 to sell for $47.97 per litre. Retailers will add their mark-ups to the announced prices. Read more here…

Police are continuing to question lorry driver Mo Robinson, 25, on suspicion of murdering the eight women and 31 men.
