Police: ‘Sandman’ was plotting big attack on enemies
The murder of Vaughn Mieres, aka “Sandman,” his wife and two other men at his Las Cuevas home earlier this morning has been linked to reports that he was plotting a “massive execution” of his enemies, senior police told Newsday. Police described Mieres as a suspected gang leader and drug lord. Read more here

Thunderous applause echoed off stained-glass windows and filled the curved wooden apse of Santa Rosa RC Church yesterday when mourners rose to their feet for the final curtain call of acclaimed actor/director Raymond Sulan Choo Kong. $1.3 billion for NWRHA
GOVERNMENT will be investing $1.3 billion from 2018 to 2021 into all projects being undertaken by the North West Regional Health Authority (NWRHA). Health Minister Terrence Deyalsingh said so yesterday at the official launch of an electronic health record (EHR) system for the National Radiology Centre (NRC) at the St James Complex. Also launched at the same venue was the authority's Be Well TT mobile application to encourage people to live healthy lifestyles and reduce the incidences of non-communicable diseases. Read more here
State ordered to pay stationery supplier $300,000
The State has been ordered to pay a little over $300,000 in compensation to a stationery supplier, who was owed for goods supplied to the Ministry of Local Goverment and Rural Development since 2015. Delivering an oral judgment at the end of a brief trial at the Hall of Justice in Port-of-Spain on Tuesday, High Court Judge Frank Seepersad ruled that businessman Bobby Mungal and his company KBM Enterprises were entitled to the compensation despite not having a written contract with the ministry. Trump claims victory in wake of Mueller testimony
Washington (CNN) President Donald Trump emerged from the White House Wednesday afternoon and walked triumphantly toward television cameras to declare Robert Mueller's testimony on Capitol Hill delivered a "very good day" for him and Republicans. He also claimed that the fiery hearings ended with Democratic lawmakers getting "less than nothing" with which to pursue their investigations into him. Read more here
Boris Johnson: Premiership will be the start of a golden age
Boris Johnson has promised the "beginning of a new golden age", as he made his first Commons statement as PM. Speaking to MPs, Mr Johnson said his government would throw itself into Brexit negotiations with energy.
